FOODS

Canned foods, especially canned fish like tuna --estrogen mimic, bisphenol-A from varnish inside can increases heavy metal accumulation like mercury and cadmium which accumulate in fish and other sea foods.

High carbohydrate diet--causes thyroid hormone increase to burn up excess calories.

Too many green leafy vegetables--high cadmium

Rice--seems to be high in cadmium

Canola oil--interferes with normal thyroid functioning

SUPPLEMENTS

Zinc--depletes copper so you need to limit zinc until copper is   built up.

Iron--depletes copper so you need to limit it at the beginning, but it's essential for making hemoglobin so try to slowly introduce it after a few weeks of copper supplementation.

Manganese--Assists iron metabolism and a known copper antagonist. Introduce again if you go hypo.

DHEA

Pregnenelone

Grape seed extract

Proanthrocyanadins--from grape seed or pine bark.

Ephedra--found in weight loss and energy supplements.

Tyrosine--the amino acid that is the basis of thyroxine.

Two years ago I had a trip planned and was having sinus problems. I asked the pharmacist what I could take that would not conflict with my present medications (Tapazole & Synthroid for "Block/replace") and he told me Sudafed Sinus. NEVER NEVER NEVER take this!!!! I took it for two days...left on my trip and while on the airplane thought I was suffering a full blown heart attack!! I had the LIST of heart attack symptoms...pain, pressure, clamminess.. I also had a horrible headache at the base of my skull. My heart was racing and skipping. My blood pressure shot sky high. I ended up at the Emory Heart Clinic in Atlanta having a thallium stress test, EKG, etc. After all was said and done, they said I had a reaction to the ingredient in the Sudafed Sinus (ephedrine?). It was the scariest experience. I had no blood pressure problems before this incident. But they could not get it to stay normal without medication following this incident. I now take Atenolol daily. Be very, very careful about what is in the "over-the-counter" medications for sinus or allergy problems. I now take Allegra..the plain one that you take twice a day.. there are two types of Allegra and one (the one a day?) contains something that my dr. said "might" be a problem.
Good luck..
